Sweet Mommy Moments
Just had to share a moment that reminds me why I love being a Mom. Brandon and I were snuggling watching Bee Movie today. When suddenly he turns to me gives me a big hug and says "I love you Mommy". So I hugged him and told him I loved him to. A few minutes later he touches my hair and says "beautiful hair". Than touches my face and says "beautiful face". Than gestures to my eyes and says "beautiful eyes". He does the same with my nose and lips, than goes back to my hair. I am so lucky to have such a sweet little charmer. There is no better compliment than one out of the mouth of an innocent child.

My Thanksgiving
Yesterday I enjoyed a wonderful thanksgiving with friends. Sometimes we forget how blessed we are to have certain people in our lives, I know I sure did. It was so nice to be included in someones thanksgiving festivities. These friends of mine are truly gems. In addition to family there were a few other folks who like me had nowhere to be for thanksgiving so they opened their home to us, and in essence is that not the bare bones of what thanksgiving really started out as? As much as I craved family connections in the past I have come to terms with the fact those people will never give me what I need, and I accept that. Instead I will celebrate the blessing of other connections in my life, connections I am so grateful for.
Later on in the evening we settled in with some yummy Epicure cheese dip and pita chips and watched "The Happening". One word of advice save your money and leave this one at the video store. A star studded cast does not always make a great movie. Between a poorly written script and some less than stellar acting this movie was a real stinker. But I enjoyed spending the time with my friends nonetheless. Now I wait for Brandon to come home.

The Blessing Of Good Friends
Today I can honestly say I am thankful for good friends. For a while now I have been dreading this thanksgiving. With no one to spend it with except possibly Brandon it was seeming like a very dismal occasion. Admittedly today I was feeling especially sorry for myself about it and was a bit teary. This evening I got a call from a friend inviting me to spend thanksgiving with her and her family. Immediately I was going to decline because they do not live here in the city and getting there would have been a nightmare since I don't drive. Before I could refuse she was telling me not to worry about how to get there, they would come and get me. I feel relieved that I won't have to spend my holiday alone. I feel thankful that without telling her my feelings about spending the upcoming holiday alone this friend just knew. I am incredibly fortunate and blessed to have good people in my life.

Stripped
I stare out the window at a young Mountain Ash tree standing in a neighbors yard. The sun bounces off it's glorious leaves of deep reds, and oranges. I think to myself how wonderful it is, a sure sign of beauty in random things.
Later on I look out the window and watch in dismay as my neighbor prematurely strips the tree of every brightly colored leaf. I feel a little sad for the tree. Stripped of it's beauty to early and now standing barren and lonely, a skeleton. While other tree's stand full and proud showing off their autumn leaves. Perhaps the neighbor had a reason for removing all the leaves, but somehow it seems like a crime to have left that tree a skeleton so early in the season.
